Third Federal Savings & Loan, Tampa, FL

I was approved and really excited being that I would've been a FTHB. Initial interaction was great but then my loan officer could not find the time to respond to my questions. I became so frustrated that I put off buying, they were the 3rd lender to pull my credit and had the best rates and fees. If you can get with a good loan officer, it may be worth going with them.

Like a dope I’ve done 3 mortgages at 3 different branches with them - mostly because their fees are not as outrageous as other mortgage providers. But GOOD LUCK CLOSING ON TIME! Believe me, you’ll need it. Give them 30 days and it will be right down to the wire or, as in the last (and definitely last) case, days late. Like moving isn’t stressful enough. The day before closing they realized I hadn’t signed a form the Feds require 72 hours prior to close. This being on a Thursday and, of course, with a bank holiday the upcoming Monday, it set me back 5 days. “Oh well, you may have to stay in a motel and store your things for a few days.” That is a direct quote. Right, another few hundred dollars of your money and having to totally re-arrange everything is no big deal to these folks. Go elsewhere.

After 2 horrendous attempts with other banks due to my unusual employment situation, I went to 3rd Fed. AMAZING DIFFERENCE! Patti Midkiff was phenomenal. She made the process easy, was super clear on what documents were needed, kept to the timeline that she initially outlined, and communicated clearly and consistently throughout.

You’ll regret doing business with them. The people are nice but aren’t good at their job. Slow process. Where it should take a month it will take 3 months.

Avoid this bank at all costs! It is the most unprofessional and disorganized bank I have ever used. I made the mistake of thinking their low rates were something that would be great....Wrong! I would take an entire percentage increase to have never dealt with them in the first place. Heed my warning, after using them you will regret it.
