Island Mortgage: Marcelle Loren "Malu", Hawi, HI

I worked with Marcelle recently on a home purchase in Hawaii and I would highly recommend her. She had been recommended to me by my realtor when I was "shopping" for lenders. I hadn’t been involved in any real estate purchases for 30 years, so I had a lot of questions and was unfamiliar with some of the terminology. Marcelle was a patient and attentive listener, a clear communicator and very responsive at every step of the process. I really felt like I could ask her anything. She gave me an in-depth property tax tutorial (Hawaii has some unique property tax classifications and exemptions) and other information to consider when I looked at homes. She even taught me a few indispensable Hawaiian words. Once I was in escrow, everything just flowed. I was looking for a lender who was professional, a clear and respectful communicator, and who could offer me a favorable loan rate and a smooth process, and that is exactly what I got in Marcelle. I am very appreciative of all that she did.

Marcelle was incredibly detailed and efficient in getting me a mortgage on a new property. I cannot begin to express my gratitude for her wise advice on how to set up title, etc. in a somewhat complicated family purchase. I was amazed at how quickly she was able to lock in a mortgage. I had been working with similar brokers on the mainland in CA and no one can compare with Marcelle! She really stayed on top of the process right up to the signing and then some. Marcelle had numerous really helpful suggestions. I would highly recommend Marcelle for anyone hoping to purchase in Hawaii. She truly works magic!

We hit the jackpot when we found Malu! We were anticipating having problems getting a loan because of certain characteristics of the property, but she was able to get us approved and funded all in time to meet a 45-day financing contingency. She is smart, quick, organized, efficient, and she loves her work. On top of that, she’s a down-to-earth human being. We will definitely use her services again if we ever need a mortgage in Hawaii!
