We were approved through a home loan with a major mortgage lender but were waiting over a month for an appraisal. With no hope of closing anytime soon, we got tired of waiting and switched to the credit union. I'm so glad we did. They worked with our situation and we were able to close in 2 or 3 weeks. Customer service is top notch. They couldn't have made it easier for 1st time home buyers.

While trying to open an HSA account as required by my employer, the teller rejected four separate documents proving my address, and never mentioned they would be pulling my credit report.
