Midland States Bank, Herscher, IL

My wife and I went in to open an account for our son, as she already banks at Centrue (but personally prefers the Kankakee location). He's 11 weeks old, but hey, never too early to start saving. We went in about half an hour before it closed, only to be told we needed both a social security card and a birth certificate to open an account for him. We had his SSN with us, but were taken aback with the request for the birth certificate. After a call on the way home to their corporate help center, my feelings were justified: we were told a birth certificate was not needed, only the SSN. The help agent and myself could only come to one conclusion: they two women working were ready to leave and simply didn't want to go through the hassle of dealing with us. We can go elsewhere.

I have found the staff at the Teacher location to be nothing but friendly and helpful. Small town touch and big bank convenience.
