I'll have to say I wish I have used SOCU many years ago. I first learned about them thru a New Vehicle loan. I then used them when I traded it in for another vehicle and all the transactions I've ever had are smooth. It's nice to be using them because if I call them they always have the answers I need or will direct me to the proper person. I've never had a CU where I can call and get car loan, Unsecured loan, personal loan all over the phone in a hour tops. Other banks or credit unions it takes days if not weeks to get a answer. Here it's like it's everyone is a priority to them. But again this is why I'll never bank with big corp banks or credit unions because they do not care about the lil people. So thank you for being a great service provider for my banking needs. Please ignore all the negative comments, SOCU you Rock

Would give this place negative stars if I could. Never had a car loan charge us for car insurance without contacting us, an insane service charge to pay a bill over the phone. The app is awful, payments will go through and get pushed back for no reason causing payments to be late. Worst place I’ve ever worked with

I called customer service and acquired my loan payoff figure. I then send my last payment. I was paying off this car loan a few years early and I was proud of that. I then sent a check in from out of state. A week later I logged in to my account too see if they got the check in the mail and found that I had a $10.41 cent balance. I called to see if I could get it waved because the CSR on the phone gave me the wrong amount. They would not wave it. Then I find out that it would cost me a credit card service fee of $10 dollars. too process my last $10.41 payment!!! I paid every month on time. They would not wave the fee. Great customer service!!! When you call in the phone they play a message stating compassionate service is our goal. NOT TRUE... Find a better place to do business.

This is not against any specific branch but rather the whole institution that is pretending to be a bank. No bank could afford to reset all yoursettings you have placed on your accounts and be considered serious player in the industry. After their "upgrade" of the system not only you had to setup new online account (with their branches closed COVID) but all your allerts were deleted (text messages that would call your attention to possible problems in account). Failure 2: the "remote deposit" simply doesn't work (they also don't infirm you about that) and to add insult to injury they want you to write your account number and " SOCU REMOTE DEPOSIT ONLY " on the back of your check which makes it invalid for another bank. The will also inform you that your "loan balance over the amount" on due day not a day after which is misleading.

Been with this bank for over 10 years, and they absolutely refuse to give me any type of car loan, years ago before my first car loan, they told me they couldn’t approve me because I’ve never had a loan for that amount and they could only go up 200 dollars from what my last loan was, so 200 dollar increments was all I was allowed, so what I get 25 beaters with a heater till I can get a reliable car? So I went some where else, got approved no problem, I have had multiple car loans, starting from my first 28k all the way to over 60k with trading in and moving up, I’ve also got a mortgage now, And here we are over 10 years later, and they still refuse to give me a loan! At this point, I’ll be washing my hands clean from this bank, and switching everything to Illinois state credit union, now that they have a branch in Ottawa.

Treat members like dirt and act high n mighty. Everyone works just cause you got control over my bank and you act like that you should be locked up. No simple respect or care. Always a wait with the 30 plus ppl they have. 30 miss for cash advance just to be told card you have wait for new one in mail after I drove 10 hours. Get an actual bank not a small town scam center.

Very pleasant experience getting a vehicle loan through SOCU would definitely recommend. So happy with my purchase.
