Security Federal Savings Bank (Delphi Branch), Delphi, IN

Last night I left from work in less-than-ideal weather conditions. When I stopped for gas, I was irritated when my card was denied at the pump. I then went inside, where again, my card was again denied. I had had trouble in the past with my Security Federal Savings Bank debit card being denied at certain locations. I went to another gas station. The same thing happened. The roads were treacherous and I was nearly out of fuel. Fortunately, Seth had five dollars cash, and I was able to buy two gallons of gas. This might have been disastrous had we slid off the road and had to stay warm until help arrived. I call the bank today. Turns out my card had potentially been one whose data had been hacked from a merchant (they wouldn't reveal any more info). So, according to the bank rep, a few minutes before they closed up shop and stopped taking calls, they canceled a "list" of cards. During a winter storm. Without informing their clients. I had to call them this morning (with less than two gallons of gas in my tank, 15 miles from the nearest filling station) to find out what was going on, and then had to go to the bank before work to have a new card made. I was informed that I should be grateful, some banks do nothing until their client's account has been wiped out (not that there was any proof that my card's data was one that had been stolen). It was also suggested that I always keep some cash on hand, you know, for when my bank fails to inform me that they've frozen my funds with no notice.

The staff here are awesome. They take the time to know their clients and make the loan process so simple!
