Switched from TD to the "local hometown bank". What a mistake! After having my checking account for 5 years I get a letter in the mail saying my account will be closed because of "the way it has been managed". I have never bounced a check or had an adverse action on my account ever!
When I called to find out why I was told, "We can choose who we want to do business with and we choose not to with you." When I asked for a reason, I was rudely told, "We don't need a reason."
I tried to explain to her that I am getting married in a few weeks and I'm trying to build my credit to make a first home purchase, so yeah, there's a lot of activity on it. Getting married ain't cheap!
Then she hung up on me.
I'm a hard-working farm hand most of the year and in the winter make my living on eBay. To be singled out by my bank and my account closed so close to my wedding date has caused a lot of hardship for me and my significant other, when the stress level is already high. This is clearly the THE WORST EXPERIENCE I have EVER had with a financial institution.
I think that if a bank like Katahdin puts all their customers money under a microscope then you're probably better off taking it elsewhere. I will NEVER recommend this bank again to any of my friends or family. Bad Business.

Amy and Kathy were wonderful helping me resolve an issue with my checking account.. I've recommended Katahdin to some of my coworkers. I have a hectic work schedule and very little to no time to talk about what was going on. Amy was able to come up with a quick solution to protect my account until I was able to talk to Kathy about it.
