Adams Community Bank, Lenox, MA

I have had an account at this bank location for over 12 years, back to when it was Lenox National Bank... I went to have my paycheck cashed, a simple enough request. I am a NYS state employee, the payroll check was from the NYS Comptroller's Office - This was in no way some personal check from Joe Schmoe - just about as official as it gets. Adams Community Bank informed me that they could not cash my paycheck of $1500. Due to the fact that my account balance did not support the balance of the check if it bounced (IF IT BOUNCED?? IT IS A PAYROLL CHECK!) I stated this did not sound correct, it isn't a personal check...They thought about it for another 10 minutes...Then told me, they simply "do not cash checks over 250$" I pulled my funds and closed my account. Something I should have done YEARS AGO. Point is - Get YOURSELF AN ACTUAL BANK that can do NORMAL BANK THINGS like cashing your payroll check. This place is a JOKE.

I would not advise pursuing a mortgage through Adams Community Bank. I found the experience particularly with one senior bank manager to be beyond the pale.

CONSTANTLY messes up business deposits. Miscounts cash, doesn't take change out of deposit bag forcing us to do a double deposit of literal cents. The list goes on and on. Never seen this many basic math issues at a bank. Find another bank, there are others in town.
