Gardiner Federal Credit Union, Gardiner, ME

Me and my wife have used this bank for many years for our loans. The service is awsome but the online and app experience is lacking functionality you can not even cash a check on the app. When they app catches up to today's standards then I will give it 5 stars.

While I originally had no issue getting an auto loan with them, my fiance was given a SUPER hard time. Not only that but when we tried to contact our loan officer through phone she never called us back after multiple attempts. She made it sound like he would be fine with a cosigner then denied the cosigner. We had $1000 down and were good on income to debt ratio and the vehicle was only 6k (so, 5k with the 1k down) She kept acting like it was completely out of her hands. After dealing with her shenanigans for a week we walked into Maine Credit Union and he got approved with no cosigner in less than 20 minutes at a great low interest deal. After I pay my auto loan off with them I am closing my account and NOT going back to give them my business because YIKES

Great place to get a local loan! I used GFCU to purchase a motor home. They made the process quick & easy. If at Any time I had a concern or question, I knew I could go right in and discuss it with them face to face. I’ve since paid off that loan and wouldn’t hesitate to borrow again if I felt the need.

Just switched to Chase banking after 8 years with GFCU. I now know the difference between a good bank and a bad one. Horrible online (website) services, and extremely difficult to get ahold of anyone over the phone.

I recently had an issue with this place, I asked for no overdraft protection when I opened this account and they recently hit me with an overdraft fee for one of my subscriptions to YouTube . I called them to get this fixed as it was their fault for allowing this payment to go through. They reversed the overdraft fee but locked me out of my online account so I can't check to see when my social security benefits come available. It's been nerve wracking and stressful to say the least. I would not recommend this bank to anyone unless you want unneeded stress.
