Maine State Credit Union, Waterville, ME

After applying for a loan through Dana, we never received any phone calls or emails from Dana at all! I waited a whole week before I tried to call Dana, when I did, I got a voicemail & nothing back. I emailed again, nothing, I called again, left message, nothing again! Almost 3 weeks & finally get a letter denying loan. Dana now is lying to manager saying that she left me messages!

Been a member here for a few years. Great customer service and doesn't have all of the fees associated with big banks. Love it!!

Terrible bank! They will give you a loan, and when you pay the loan off, they tack thousands more dollars onto your loan.......fraud in the loan department, not good news. Looking into legal actions , not transparent with their doings or your money.....Tony will be explaining /proving himself......

People tell me that credit unions are better than banks, but they never give specific reasons. I have accounts with three banks in town, but never have I ever been treated like a friend in any of them. I walked into this credit union on Friday and felt like I now belong to a family. These people treated me professionally and compassionately.

Maine State has some pros and cons. On the pro side, the staff is extremely helpful and pleasant. I forgot to grab my debit card from the ATM and it retained it for me so no one could get it. I came after the lobby had closed to get it back and the employees were very gracious in going out there with a special code to get it for me. I love that there's mobile check deposit. When I've had an issue with online banking, they've tried to be as helpful as possible. Which brings me to the cons. Because this credit union has this strange (to me) way of assigning you an account number with your *actual* checking acct number being something different, I've had so much trouble with connecting anything electronically. I use PayPal and Venmo frequently and it's been a huge hassle transferring my money to MSCU because the account number I put in isn't always recognized. I also have an investment account with Schwab and getting that connected was a nightmare. And if you don't write that acct number down somewhere or store it on your phone, you're out of luck trying to find your own acct number on the MSCU website. They say it's a security feature, but once I've logged into my own account and gone through those security features, I should be able to find my own darn acct number! Ugh. I've been a little frustrated and I'm probably going to switch banks. I think MSCU is a great bank for basic transactions, but if you do much at all with other institutions digitally, you may want to consider a different place to put your money.

There are few companies out there that truly take the time to explain options and who care about their clients as much as Maine State Credit Union. My business is 28 years old today and over the years I've had varying reasons for a small business loan or a line of credit now and again. I've had business loans from banks and from credit unions and I'd have to say that the easiest and most enjoyable application for a commercial loan was when working with Bruce Harrington from Maine State Credit Union. He took the time to explain which product was the right one for me and truly cared about me and my business. I've had two business loans and one commercial line of credit through Bruce from MSCU and I couldn't be happier. My business is flourishing because of it! I highly recommend them to any business of any size that needs financing for equipment, expenses, etc.

Big shout out to Randi!! she was an absolute amazing help and went above and beyond to help me solve my problems with getting my Apple Cash transferred to my account so I could get my cash out! Mind you been trying to get cash for past 2 days! She was an absolute sweetheart and I couldn’t thank her enough for being such an amazing help! If I could give a 10 star review I would!
