I opened an account with Evergreen when I started using thier shared branching to pay a loan with another credit union out of state. They went above and beyond in the Naples Branch helping me settle issues with the other CU. I have had them for 5+ years now, have 3 accounts, a loan and I am adding another loan soon. The staff is so friendly and helpful. And shared branching is wonderful to have. I can always find a place to get some cash out if I forget my cards.

I have 2 accounts with them. When opening both I signed a paper saying to decline any charges that would overdraft. However, when charges did go through, and I was charged the $35 OD Fee, they claim to have lost the financial records and have no proof. THIS IS A SCAM! Heartbreaking to be taken advantage of like this

Last month Paypal withdrew 5 dollars 5-6 times, and they didn't have right to take it from my savings account. They were supposed to take it from checking where I keep a balance. They admitted they didn't have the right, and apologized.
Evergreen Credit Union had charged me 30 dollars for each 5 dollar bounced check. When I called Windham, they told me I had to get something from Paypal that admitted that they were at fault. As luck would have it, I knew they would want proof, so I got them on a three way conversation with Paypal, and the rep apologized and took responsibility.
Evergreen said it was not sufficient, so I had the Paypal rep email his contact information, and he again took responsibility. This was again not satisfactory to Evergreen Credit Union.
They demanded that I get a letter from Paypal on their letterhead, and would not budge until did so. I was going to be out almost 200 dollars in bounced check fees because of some woman with a power issue, or simply someone without the intelligence to give good customer service.
I had a friend call someone he knew in the bank and ask that he take care of it. I was about to file a complaint with the Bureau of Banking, but he didn't know that. He did reverse the bounced check fees. He is a decent guy, but whoever makes the decisions at Evergreen Credit Union in Windham that causes so much stress and strife should be replaced, or the bank policy needs to be adjusted to reality. Who wants to spend hours on something so simple. Jerks. I will write each time they do something good, or bad. We will see how the chips fall. So far, the verdict is go back to high school, and take "How to Run a Bank" business classes. Until then, buyer beware.

Was confused by why my payment wasn’t being applied to a partial payment. Was asking questions about this and for some reason wasn’t showing the teller I only owed a partial payment till my payment was applied to the loan. I was met with rudeness and told “I can be holding up the drive through.” I was in no way trying be be there longer then necessary. I had my three year old and one year old with me. All I needed was some clarification that it may not show up till a payment was payed at least, not rushed away with rudeness and not a slight apology since I couldn’t bring both my children in without having issues with them trying to run off.

The Windham location no longer does shared branching transactions on Saturdays unless you're an Evergreen member, which essentially defeats the whole purpose of shared branching. This is the only CU in the area that has this limitation, which leads me to believe they are doing it to try to coerce you into becoming a member rather than just support shared branching like everyone else. It takes literally 10 extra seconds to do a shared branching transaction, which I'm assuming is also the argument against doing them on Saturdays.
For working people that can't make it to the bank during the week this is terrible customer service. The in-lobby clerks today 4/15/23 were rude and condescending after my response was "no, I'm not a member", they just kept saying "nope can't do it" and were talking and snickering amongst themselves "that rule changed on January 1...of last year". How is anyone supposed to know that? I found it buried on their website later on, but shared branching availability implies that it's available as long as the bank tellers are available. When I asked to speak with the branch manager the clerk replied "they're busy so you'll probably be waiting awhile". These were probably the least helpful folks I've ever encountered.
I had planned on opening an account and consider Evergreen for home refinance and personal loan options, but now that's off the table entirely. I will actively tell everyone I know to avoid this credit union and take their business elsewhere. Terrible customer service. They should remove themselves from the shared branching co-op if they're not going to be all in.
