Straits Area Federal Credit Union, Cheboygan, MI

Theee absolute worst financial institution I’ve ever been to. They cashed a cashiers check I deposited for my business and told me there would be a 3 day hold, then called me and said a week hold, letter in mail says 1month hold. I explained I wouldn’t have deposited here if the teller had told me 1 month hold. They agreed to release it today. Money wasn’t available, I call, they release. Tried to withdraw, teller says no. Calls Cheboygan and tells them she won’t allow. I call Cheboygan. I’m told I can have someone’s vm (same someone that refuses to answer the 3 previous VM, I left her) Ask who the CEO of cu is and how do I contact that person. I’m told that I’m not allowed to contact. She tells me her name but refuses to give me any contact info. I call back now and they won’t even answer, send all calls to generic VM. I’m presently speaking to a lawyer to sue this CU as this is a business account and they’ve essentially financially closed my business and are holding MY money hostage with absolutely 0 dialog from anyone in a position to tell me why.

Professional staff from Loan officers to Bank tellers. All staff have been quite helpful and informative through my few years of service. Normal hours of operation for a bank. Easy to manage Mobile banking system. Zero complaints.

Fully staffed it seems but no one cares to welcome you upon entrance. I hear they provide loans with good rates so I’m going to stay with them but minimally. I hope it’s not a cause from bad leadership because tellers just don’t seem happy in general, hope not.

Always available for quick questions regarding financial decisions as well as loan decisions. Professional staff willing to help in any way they can. Their car loan rates beat everyone else's that we looked into. The office's are always clean and friendly when you walk in! We would recommend them hands down to anyone looking for banking services.

Been with SAFCU for about 4 years now, and I love them! The only place in town willing to help me get a loan for a new car, and even gave me great advice on how to pay it off early and raise my credit score. Amazing people, always friendly!

I’ve gotten several loans now and had many dealings with this bank over the past several years and I truly can’t say enough good things. They beat every interest rate there is and every transaction has been seamless and stress free. Ellie has been our loan officer for every one and she is absolutely FANTASTIC! I email her random questions all the time she gets back to me faster than anyone else. I will never get a loan anywhere else because of Ellie, and because of the great service this credit union provides.
