Hibbing Co-Op Credit Union, Hibbing, MN

The reviews were okay, it was a credit union, and they offer a fee free checking account so we chose them for our banking. We walk in and ask to open a checking account and the tellers says, the lady to the right is busy but a guy to the left might have an opening. We are just head motioned to one side of the bank. He finally walks towards his office and we say, we need to open a checking account. He says, hmm, I don't know. What time is it? Then says, at 2:40, I don't know if I have time, I have a 3:15 appointment. He also tells us that we need a credit check to open a checking account. Odd. Never needed one at any other bank. We went over to Security State Bank of Hibbing and had an account by 3:15 and some great service.

Nice bank. Was let down by the judgy service. I sold 4 guns to one of my grandpa's buddies, and when I brought the check to cash it, I was told I had to wait and they had to call the owner of the check to make sure the check was legit.... ??? .... Huh? ... Rude... what they said basically said to me was... "Hey, this check is for $4,000... that looks like a lot of money to you, and we don't know why you'd be getting that amount. We're gunna make sure this is real." Why is that???? Rude way of saying "You could have stolen this, or forged it." Guarantee they would have called if it was for far less, like $400. Very rude..

Ive' been banking here for over 10 years, and always had a great experience here. They make loans a snap, and have always approved things quickly with funds available the next day, low interest rates, and have taken care of any potential snags that other banks would balk at. Definitely the go-to place for anyone needing an auto loan.

I've been banking here for 25 years, and have been treated like family the whole time. Each visit they will answer all your questions and give you their best attention.

Everyone is very kind and welcoming! One of the new gals in front is a little rude and has a harsh attitude but overall a great place to go. Best place in Hibbing to go for an auto loan! Love their Christmas savings accounts also.

Joslyn cook was very unprofessional! I called to get my car loan straighten out (no coupon books, no online system, no statements) onto why I was showing late on credit karma when I never been late on anything in my life! She said delinquency were sent (they were sent to an old address) and I was told it 100% borrower responsibility to ensure addresses are updated. I refinance this car in November of 2022 and it is 100% the loan officer responsibility to check with customer for accuracy on the loan app which was not done to see if there was any changes. As of November 2022 I was at the address I am now for 2 years! Very rude and highly suggest going elsewhere.

I try to bank local but the service isn't very good lately. 21 year customer that will probably look elsewhere for a more modern bank with expanded features. Had a fraudulent charge on my debit card and apparently i need to call and beg the company for a refund. In the past this is always something the bank would handle.
