AVOID!!
I really wanted to like South Metro but 7 years later I continue to have problem after problem with them. I can never get a card set up properly with the system they require to use to set it up. I can never get anyone on the phone to actually answer my questions or help me. They do not have hours that allow me to go in and refuse to help. There is one woman in particular that is absolutely the rudest person every single time I work with her. The app never works. They charge you to close an account. When I opened a separate account I gave the 2 $20 bills but they only put $10 in one account and $25 in the other and told me I never gave them $40. I took it directly out of the atm! I regret ever coming to this bank!
DO NOT USE THEM!!

yes, the staff upon opening a new account were very polite & friendly. left a different credit union because of incredibly poor customer service.
In trying to set up to view online has not been a very good experience. got locked out, sent the required msg/email NOTHING for 6 days so now a phone call is required.
I guess in this day & time we just resign ourselves to poor help and substandard service. I received the information I needed to set up the account online but the prompts to ask for and receive statements is just sooo bad I gave up. printed myself, hoping that the teller was right in saying I will get mailed statements.
It is really getting harder and harder to have any sort of trust once you have been lied to.

I’ve been banking here for about 15 years. It has been extremely difficult making purchases with the debt card and often times card services system is down. Recently I’ve been trying to make a purchase over the past 3 days and still no luck. I’ve called about 5 times and the bank refers me to card services and the card services refers me to the bank.
I’ve never experienced so much difficulty using a debt card.

My wife and I opened a Checking and savings account several years ago after 2 unnamed banks had found ways of charging for overdrafts in very creative ways. We have never had any issues like this since we have opened our account with South Metro.
I can't tell you how happy I am with the service I received from both Jamie and Megan when we opened an auto loan. They worked with me to find the best payment to fit my budget and were very understanding of my credit situation. Most banks have lost their ability to work this close with the client.

BE AWARE-
Company policy for NOT investigating suspicious activity on checking/savings accounts.
There was a debit and credit that was NOT recognized by the client. Spoke with the fraud department and the representative was rude and incompetent.
Been a member for over 20 years and no recognition for loyalty.
I will be removing my funds and banking at an alternate Financial institution.

I've been with this credit union for 6 yrs. I applied for a loan and got denied. They constantly sending out papers to sign up for insurance with them. They're quick to take your money but when you really need them they're NOT there for you. Its kinda sad that I can go to another loan place and get a loan in minutes but you come to someone you've trusted for 6 yrs. And get NOTHING. SMDH

Jamie S. is an absolute ROCKSTAR lending specialist. Not only does this credit union offer competitive rates for well qualified buyers, but their customer service is also top notch. I was working with a few other credit unions trying to get a quick loan together so that I could purchase a private sale boat that was a great price out of state the next day. Everyone else kept dropping the ball, but Jamie understood that my loan was time sensitive and got me a check so quick that I couldn't believe it. She has since also helped me on a vehicle loan as well and that went even quicker since my information was already in the system. Thank you, Jamie and SMFCU, I will definitely recommend your services to any friends looking for lending options.

Avoid this credit union. So many times they have manipulated the transaction process to assess fees.
Reordering Transactions
Rather than debit a customer’s account in the chronological order, the transactions were made, the credit union will instead process the debit in highest-to-lowest order, thereby maximizing the number of overdraft fees it can charge. For example, assume you have $100 in your account. You then stop and make three small, separate purchases for $10, $12, and $18. Then, you go to the supermarket and buy groceries for $50. Lastly, you stop for gas on your way home and debit $40. If these purchases were processed chronologically, as they were executed in real time, you would only be charged for one overdraft fee. However, some credit unions process these fees in a business day according to value, from highest to lowest. Therefore, in this example, you would be charged for twice in lieu of once.
