I got a loan through OneMain a few years back and have never missed a payment. They would call me a few times a year and ask if I needed more money and a new loan and I usually declined. They also send me ads weekly with offers. Recently, one was sent as a guaranteed approval and I decided to apply for it. I applied online yesterday, and the email I got as confirmation said to call in right away to set up an appointment. So I called when they opened and talked to a Charlie. He was going to transfer me to whoever was assigned my application, and when he realized it was him - he sounded less than enthused. He said he'd be sending me an email with the needed documents. An email I never got, so I called back again in the afternoon. I submitted all of my documents as requested and never heard anything back. I called today to ask for an update, he said they underwriters denied the loan. His words "they don't really give a reason why, just a yes or no". And that was that. I've dealt with a lot of banks and a lot of loans in my life. And the couple of time I've been denied, they've always had a very detailed explanation as to why. Not sure how I went from a "Guaranteed Loan" to a "I'm not sure why it's not approved". And the customer service was less than satisfactory. At the end of the day, it's something on my end that the loan was denied for, so I can't be too mad about that. But when I am looking for another loan in the future - One Main financial will not be who I go through.

Why would anyone give a loan to an 82 year old man? I despise financial institutions willing to loan money to anyone especially the elderly. He was obviously being conned into getting a loan to send other people money. I hope they grow a conscience someday and stop letting the elderly or anyone from being taken. I have since taken over finances but watch keep and eye on your parents, OneMain wont.

They don't like to return phone calls. Decent customer service during the application process, after that didn't receive a call back.

Highly don’t recommend this place. First I was told it shouldn’t be a probble. My proof of income from SSDI was not good enough for them ( it’s a federal documents) If your really in a pinch maybe. Also there interest rates are extremely high. Stay away
