UnBank Check Cashing & Loans- St. Paul at Hillcrest, Saint Paul, MN

Only go in to this place to cash checks not worth cashing at the bank. Walked in establishment was empty. Employee behind the glass was on her phone (Caucasian woman) made reference to me looking at my nails because hers was “done” and AWE she has SUCH “good Peripheral vision“ guess she wasn’t to confident in her own choices nails, life idk. Also, made small talk about her looking old after stating “young people” were lazy because I didn’t care to get my ID changed since a move across the street but never directed towards me so it wasn’t addressed. Needless to say, I’ll just drive to the bank don’t have time for pointless interactions and effortless insults in what’s supposed to be a professional establishment. Whole interaction was odd and uncomfortable, Grow up.

This place is so unprofessional in so many ways. I am enrolled into a Native American tribe and I sometimes receive compensation checks in an old name I had before I was adopted. When I first got my check in my old name I had to go and get proof and sign a petition with my other siblings in Hennepin county so we can have court document proof that our names were changed during the adoption process. I went to this place and brought all the documents I received directly from the judge and my birth certificate and ID, and the lady who cashed it for me was very understanding and thoroughly looked through all of our documents and told me she made double copies to save digitally just in case in the future if I receive another check in my previous name. I went to this exact location and tried cashing the exact same check they already did back in September 2021 and the lady was very rude and unprofessional, At first she told me she had no file or any saved information on my file from before and that I needed to bring in the documents again. I left and brought back all the exact same documents AGAIN and she took copies of all the documents I brought in, and informed she did have record on file that i did previously cash my check there but the information wasn’t good enough. I told her those papers were directly from the judge who had access to my adoption/name change files and she laughed at me in my face and told me “I’m not good with documents and my manager said no, so you so that need to explain anything to me” as I tried to calmly tell her that I don’t under why m name change documents aren’t enough proof if you guys already scanned my documents went over them and told me everything was fine the first time!!! seriously why are you even working at a cash checking place if you are going to be rude and demand customers to bring in addition information just to tell them no and laugh at them. There is no other documentation that i need to show proof of a name change everything I provided to the clerk was the exact documentation the judge who released my records to me gave me. People have lives and things to do and I feel personally attacked as if this lady thought I was a liar and faking everything basically telling me I’m a liar and bringing in fake information WHEN THIS EXACT SAME LOCATION ALREADY TOOK COPIES OF ALL OF MY DOCUMENTS AND TOLD ME “IF YOU COME BACK WE WILL HAVE ALL OF YOUR INFORMATION ON FILE JUST IN CASE” Totally unprofessional and extremely rude to laugh in a customers face and tell them “Im not good with documents”

Sometimes I need to come here to cash a check that I do not want on my bank record, or to get a money order. The service is always quick, kind and in and out. If you try to get money orders anywhere else, there machines ALEAYS down, or they have long lines that move like quicksand (cvs) and then theIR computers don’t work when you get there. Lalala -anyway, this is the best place around for all your unbanking business needs and money orders! And staff is polite! Be kind to everyone!!!

Employee was very very rude. Walked into store at 10:02 am and she just started ranting and screaming that “It’s not open yet” “I just got here” blah blah. Not our fault you got to work late. Store opens at 10. Try being a little more respectful

I only go here to cash my checks which goes by pretty quick. Can't complain about the fee since you know that's life but when I went on a Friday of course everyone was there since it was pay day and they only had one person working. They only thing about that is she wasn't doing a very good job and got people our as quick as she could.

I have nothing but praise for the people behind the glass. Very nice, kind and respectful to me. I vent sometimes and she listens. Not her job but that’s who she is. Really have great experience there.
