Great Southern Bank, South Sioux City, NE

I was referred to Scott Brekke (Loan Officer) with Great Southern Bank in Sioux City, IA a month or so ago by a co worker of mine for a home loan. My co-worker gave me this referral, ranting and raving about Scott Brekke's flawless performance with my co-worker's past home loan. I am over sixty years old. I have worked with several home loan officers with previous home purchases over the years. This guy, Scott Brekke, has been amazing from start to finish. Impeccable ! No mistakes ! I was able to talk or text with him at virtually any day of the week or any hour of the day. This is not expected, just worth mentioning, as communication is high on my list of priorities. Scott secured me an amazing loan approval at an amazing interest rate. Great Southern's rate was actually the lowest I could find. Although, Scott also let me know that if I found a lower rate with any other bank, he may be able to match or beat it ! Scott has gone above and beyond the call of duty in every way possible by delivering unsurpassed excellent service as a Loan Officer for a new home loan. If you are in the market to either re-finance your existing loan, or secure financing for a new home, I HIGHLY recommend you give Scott a call. You will be glad you did .

ZERO STARS--Oh my gosh...the fees that this bank comes up with is ridiculous. I tried to transfer money to my dads account, which is also at Great Southern, over the phone and they have a fee for that! Also fees for getting statements, if you use an ATM you get charged the ATM fee AND a 2.50 fee from the bank. So many fees they are turning into a Wells Fargo. I do not recommend this bank. Find somewhere with less fees.

Made a 2,000 deposit and the teller acted as if i was a criminal, very uncomfortable experience, i handed my ID and she quadruple counted my money as if it was fake money, she then asked for my ssn on 3 different ocassions, the whole transaction took nearly 20 mins.

Friday at 5pm...lobby is closed and only 3 out of 4 drive up lanes are open and each one is 3 cars deep.

If you need a knowledgeable banker, go to another location for assistance.

Worst bank in the whole world. It’s been 9 business days since I requested a replacement card and I still have not received it in the mail. They said it may take up to 10 though, so maybe I will receive it then. Obviously this bank is a joke, and the execs really don’t prioritize their clients. Snail mail? That’s how they’ll ship your card to you.
