I rarely write reviews, but I feel like this one is a must. When it was time to purchase our current home, I mentally prepared for the painful process of getting a loan. In spite of this being our fourth home loan, dealing with a loan company in the past was the hardest part of buying a home. I happend to be talking to a coworker who had recently purchased a new home, when I asked her about the loan company she used, she had nothing but great things to say about Alterra Home Loans. So I called them. From my first phone call to Alterra, I knew that I was in good hands. It felt like they were buying this house with me. They literally walked me through every step of buying this home. The staff was extremely courteous and knowledgeable, and the communication was seamless. Whether I called or email them, I would always get an immediate response. I would like to say thank you to the entire staff at Alterra Home Loans for making our home buying experience so easy!

Lawrence Mallar and his team at Alterra were amazing. First time home buying experience and they were able to work out a closing in 15 business days which I never thought possible. Always available to answer questions and prompt with responses. Couldn't ask for a better experience, it was the superbowl 42 (Giants 17 Pats 14) of home buying.

I worked with Huascar Sime to get my mortgage and it was a great experience. He went above and beyond every step of the way. I highly recommend him!

Jose seemed very attentive and responsive on several pre-approvals/offers. However, on our accepted offer, it was quite a different horrifying experience. Jose did not look out for our best interests at all, offer options regarding our situation, it was like pulling teeth & we were the ones asking the questions the professional should have. Then he applied for joint Conventional when last discussed sole FHA weeks prior, and we then had to pay to convert to FHA only for him then to advise he wasn't aware of my wife's previous FHA that he has been aware of for over a year & had all the paperwork for all previous pre-approavals & offers. Then 2 weeks later no call to advise of delay, only emailed the evening before settlement & Never answered calls from us, our realtor, the selling realtor, or the title company after emailing of a possible delay only 18 hours prior to settlement. And not advising of a couple hours delay or day delay and again no response to us, our realtor, the selling realtor, or the title company as we were all at the table. Fortunately, the Excellent DV Abstract Title company contacted the actual closer and was able to get it done after 6 hours of us sitting at the table even though Jose would only text that we would not be able to close until the next day, first due to Monday being a Holiday and underwriter was behind, then another that underwriters were in training all day, still advising no way to close and would need to do so the next day even after the title company and his closer already had the paperwork sorted out.
