Community Bank, N.A., Kinderhook, NY

If I could give a lower star I would. I despise this bank. I wouldn't go here if I didn't have to pay my rent here. They never stick to their hours, and the customer service is terrible.

Where to start? This was a great bank when it was National Union Bank of Kinderhook, then they sold off to Community Bank. This is no longer the “small town bank” where you walk in to friendly faces you recognize, this is now a bank that’s gotten to big for its own good. They’ve canceled my automatic payments on my loans multiple times causing late fees and hassle and couldn’t tell me why the payments were cancelled. Fortunately they did waive all the fees, admitting it’s their issue. They then promised me the issue was fixed, only for it to reoccur a month later. When attempting to close an account they took over $13K from me and cashed my check to pay off the loan, only to call me two days later saying I never made the payment and they need the signed paperwork I already gave them. They have no idea who’s doing what within the bank, or where things go once you give it to the tellers. I tried to stay local, but issue after issue forced my hand and I now bank 30 minutes away. I’ve now closed all my accounts, remortgaged my house, and left this bank in the rear view. Go anywhere else but here.
