Universal Check Cashing, Utica, NY

Very disgusting and rude! If I could leave negative stars I would. They had a child at the front cashing the checks. The lady I spoke to on the phone had a very nasty tone and she was highly disrespectful. Terrible experience. Might as well get an actual bank.

Surprised at all the people wuo said they find the staff rude. I've always found them to he very polite and professional,and have never had any issues.

Horrible company!!!! I'm absolutely livid. Spent money (almost $30 round trip!) to Uber to this check cashing place, and when I got there I was told that they don't cash the kinds of checks I had to cash. One of them was issued by National Grid! The cashier said they don't take presigned checks...was I not supposed to endorse the checks to cash them?!? WTActualF?!?

Other than being in an extremely dangerous part of the city, I've had good experiences with staff being fast & effective. They are usually busy & they try their best to be friendly, unfortunately, I think they deal with so many rude & difficult people all day that they are just all business.

It passes i guess if you're in between banks for whatever reason, better off applying for a price chopper card, takes 30 days to clear before you can cash at price chopper though, only reason i see coming here. The few times i have gone 8/10 times they let thugs hang around in the lobby and outside the building. Not something that makes a person comfortable when they have a wad of freshly handed out cash in their pocket. They've also busted my chops once when i forgot my ID and i had been there before and had my photo taken each time. Last measure.

The staff consist of four middle aged white women that are are very rude and unprofessional. Tuesday June 20th 2023 I received terrible service from the whole staff at once. Upon entering I stopped short of the service glass to check my phone and was immediately met with rudeness. The staff proceeded to rush me and then actually talking about me right to my face behind the glass. I heard them all making comments about me acting as if me taking a second to check my phone was inconveniencing them. The vibe they give off is that “I’ve been working here for years so I can do as I please” Vert trashy and not professional especially considering it was a money transaction. To add insult to injury I then was denied service reason being that I didn’t sign the check in her presence for here to see. Did I mention that it was a homeless person sitting in front of the door soliciting money from customers right in there view. Sorry it’s 1out of 5 stars me lady’s.

Absolutely disgusting customer service. You get what you would expect from a ghetto business. And ghetto customers cashing their welfare checks
