While this may seem like a rant, it is not. I am just providing some of my experiences and trying to convey my frustration. To start this, I have been a customer for almost 9 years to this Bank both for personal and Business accounts. Apparently, I do not earn enough in order to have my questions answered in an orderly fashion or without prejudice.
Since I have banked there for as long as I have I have had them the last 6 months trying to help me, I am a patient man. I have called nearly 100 times over the last 6 months in order to talk to 3 different people. I reached 2 of those people once and 1 of those people twice. So in all about 96% of my phone calls were sent to voicemail and not returned.
If you know everything about their policies and do not need assistance, this may be the bank for you however, with my questions and yearning for knowledge, I was countered with impatience and yelling on one occasion; the rest of the time they just ignored me or blacklisted me. I hope you have better luck than I here, not much choice in Coudersport so I’ll more than likely take my business to Olean or wellsville for a different more helpful bank which I have already found and who have plenty of time for me and my Business. Don’t settle for abuse in the absence of love.

Extremely happy with the service at the Coudersport branch. Nola and her staff are always upbeat and eager to help us out with any questions we may have. We made the right decision to bank with C&N Bank.

I recently needed to transition from Bank of America to a local bank. I opened an account at C&N Coudersport. I declined overdraft protection at the time.
About 6 weeks later, a transaction was declined because my account had insufficient funds. I was charged a $35 fee. I assumed that meant the. manager had accidentally signed me up for overdraft protection, so I called the bank and requested that the protection be removed so this wouldn’t happen again. The associate I spoke to assured me she’d put in a request to remove the overdraft protection.
Two days later, I was charged another $35 fee. I called the bank. The associate told me I’d never had overdraft protection, and rgar C&N charges $35 anytime your account has insufficient funds to cover an attempted transaction. So basically you are charged an overdraft fee for no overdraft protection, and when the vendor attempts the transaction again, you are charged a $35 again, your account drops further into the red, the vendor tries again, you are charged another $35 fee, etc.
I was not informed of this policy when I opened an account at C&N. The manager who opened my account knew I was pressed for time during my lunch break and thus sat there with me as I rubber-stamped the paperwork. I’m sure some C&N rep whose soul is owned by C&N corporate and who has abdicated her ability to make ethical decisions independently will answer this review by saying I should have read the fine print. The person I spoke to when I called said that whoever opened my account should have told me about this insufficient funds fee. I’d never open an account with a bank that charges a fee to decline a transaction.
You should be transparent in your banking practices, and should retain your humanity despite working for an organization whose bottom line is their bottom line. In a time when we are all struggling financially, it is nothing short of immoral to deprive your customer base of the information necessary to decide if they want to do business with you.
Thankfully my account with Bank of America is still open. Despite the inconvenience of no local branch, I’ve transitioned my direct deposit from work back to that account, and plan on closing the C&N account Monday.
