State Bank of Southern Utah, Richfield, UT

I attempted to get a loan through a different credit union and the interest they tried to stick me with was INSANE. State Bank in Richfield was recommended to me by a friend, and after working with Layne Barney on a loan and getting my interest down to 1/3 of what the other credit union was offering, I was thrilled! I'll be a client for life. I have had nothing but positive experiences here and have seen State Bank make continuous improvements and updates even in the few short years I have been a member! I highly recommend these guys and the hometown banking experience :)

Unfortunately I've had only unpleasant experiences with SBSU (Richfield). I was thrilled when we started our home loan process with them! They offered competitive rates and I was glad to keep it local. After we committed to use their services, the customer service was terrible. Communication became non-existent, paperwork was painfully slow, dates were continually pushed back, and interest rates went up twice before the loan was "locked in". It's been incredibly frustrating! I sadly won't be recommending the services there to anyone I know and love.

Their mortgage officer is a nightmare to deal with. I recently refinanced my home to get as far away from these guys as I possibly could. When I first got the mortgage, I had questions like anyone else would have, and trying to get them answered was like pulling teeth. The paperwork that they needed, would get brought up every few days rather then having a list of what they needed. “Real professional”, I ended up having to leave work to ask the questions and source the paperwork they needed due to them not answering the phone calls. So, DO NOT go through this place unless you have a lot of spare time, and aren’t in a hurry to have your mortgage done. Mine was about 8-9 weeks before it was finished, steer clear of this place. I’d recommend a local mortgage place that you can call anytime, or that will actually inform you of what is going on. This place is a joke!

I'm from the deep south. When I moved to Utah, if I'm honest with you, I was not ready for all the fry sauce that swims around these parts. Another unexpected inconvenience was all the high interest rates, and down right rude individuals at banks telling me my business. That is, until I was guided by the lord to bank at this fine establishment; State Bank of Southern Utah. I was introduced to the finest young man I've ever seen and he treated me like I was family. I got the lowest interest rates, and again, the way Jordan Porter took care of me was prestigious to say the least. I'm so grateful for SBSU and feel very fortunate to have found a bank that loves their customers no matter where they're from. Southern hospitality is not dead after all. Thanks Jordan Porter, and thank you SBSU! Also, if I could get that Porter kids number? I'd be happier than a crocodile in a chicken pin if he would come over to watch one of them jazz games sometime. I'm also interested in whatever church he attends. The guy just seems to have his ducks all in a row.

Always treated well here and the service is friendly and efficient. Beautiful new building too.

Love the staff at the Richfield branch. Always kind and quick to help and Jordan is a rock star for the help and service he does. I definitely recommend them for your banking needs!
