American Lake Credit Union, Lakewood, WA

One of the most unprofessional and incompetent team of bankers I've ever met. Went to the Lakewood branch to transfer the title for the truck I was selling. After 45 min of hemming and hawing about which branch we actually needed to go to we were told we had to book it across town to a different location because "we don't do titles at this branch". After a mad dash we made it with 5 minutes to spare. We signed all the necessary paperwork and closed out all the accounts, including the auto-pay. Fastforward a month and surprise surprise we get billed for the full truck payment. When we call to sort it out the person on the phone was rude and dismissive. After some back and forth they said I didn't sign the correct paperwork and that we'll have to sign the cancellation of the auto pay. I was sure we had done this before so I said as much. After a minute on hold I was told that yep, we had done everything correct on our end and that they had made a mistake. Thing is they opened a new savings account or didn't close the first one so we will see if we get the money and don't have any more problems from surprise banking. Long story short: Never bank here if you can help it.

I have been a member over 20 years. Everyone I have dealth with are ecvellent and very profession. If there is a situation you are helped to resolve it Taking the time to stop in or even just making a phone does wond wonders. I recommend stopping by talk to them. I have done this many time with great success.

Kelli and Bri are like family to my husband Ron and I. I have gone through some rough times with car lots ripping me off and not being honest, but with these WONDERFUL ladies no matter how bad the situation looks they fix it and make things right for you. Kelli works hard to make sure you are comfortable with payments and she’s so easy to work with. She is so nice and patient. Sometimes I just call or stop by to say hello to these ladies. I absolutely LOVE this bank. I’ve been with them since 2019. I had ZERO credit, but now I’m way up there because of this bank and feeling really good about it. If you want to be at a bank where you are treated respectfully and given a chance to soar like me, AMERICAN LAKE CREDIT UNION is where it’s at.These wonderful ladies are at the Lakewood location. I live all the way on the other side of Tacoma but I still want to go there. Best Credit Union ever!!!!

I cannot say enough good things about this CU. Tammie has been so amazing to work with. From my first loan to now my third, she has been so patient in walking me through express pay from the ALCU website, all the way to setting up ACH payments. I have my vehicle and have had a couple of personal loans as well. She is sweet, patient, and always always has the best attitude. She is my go to for everything! I love my experience and don't see myself going anywhere else. Thank you Tammie for all your hard work.

I asked to get my older credit card activated on a Thursday. Was told it was good to go. Tried it Friday morning. Nothing. So i called back. Was told it would be taken care of. Tried to used Saturday morning. Still not working. Called back and was told wait till Monday morning when the accounting person would be there. Called Monday morning. Was told they cant activate my credit card at all. Why did I have to wait 4 days? On vacation now. Closing accounts once home and telling everybody who,has an accou,t there to find another credit union. Ive been with this,credit union for over 20 years. Not anymore.

August 2023- My husband (who had a car loan here) passed and this organization not only sarcastically questioned my statement to which I immediately provided a death certificate, but has continued to bungle an easy settlement on a total-loss accident for a car loan with the insurance agency. They even accused me of hiding the car when it was clearly totaled off-site by the insurance carrier. I’ve spoken to the loan officer and branch manager repeatedly time-out-of-my-day to try a clear things up on an issue that is legally NOT my responsibility. They are incompetent, beg the insurance agency to keep hounding me, and 8 months later continue to send bills to my dead husband. You decide if you want to do business with a company like this. November 2023… Still receiving deceased husband’s mail

This place was sold our new car loan from Car Pro's Renton Kia. We were told our Loan was going to Kia. It didn't. We set up our Full Coverage Insurance at the dealership. Needless to say we got a phone call three months later telling us we were going to have forced placed insurance. We never got notice prior to this phone call. Then we got two notices AFTER they placed it. NOT BEFORE! I had the lienholder updated the day I got that phone call. Needless to say, this has been a nightmare and I will be contacting the FTC and the BBB about this.
