Associated Bank, Menomonie, WI

Safe to assume that since Associated purchased this location, the services offered in Menomonie have gotten worse. They have certainly used the pandemic to limit customer service quality in their staffing - good folks working for a bank who is simply putting profits over service.

I've used this bank off and on for about thirty years, about nine actual years total. Never had a major issue with them, this branch does well--friendly and helpful. I've a trust that uses this bank and while there have been issues of my ignorance of their policies, nothing too serious and resolved easily. I've used them mostly for accounts where I may need access in multiple areas around the state--especially when I was on the road consulting.

They are small friendly bank who calls us by name when we enter the front door -- not after they open our account and check the balance. If you need a new bank, pick this one. If your son/daughter is going to be a student at U.W. Stout -- pick this bank. New faculty? Tired of a credit union? Pick this bank. We love these people and want them to be very successful. Too many small banks are being swallowed by large ones -- Pick this bank. If you want the emotional story that really won my heart and made me so loyal to Bank Mutual -- here it is: We maintain accounts in Menomonie and because of teaching responsibilities at a University in New Haven, CT-- we also have accounts at a very large east coast based bank with a large national reputation. Here is the story that really won me over. I was the most impressed when we had a problem with an elderly confused person to whom we had written checks and made regular payments (through the bank automated bill pay system.) We contacted the bank and asked for assistance in getting copies of cancelled checks and information on when the bank's bill pay system had sent the check payments. It was a time of stress for us, since I wasn't sure I could locate our bank statements from 2011 when the elderly gent suddenly in late 2014 -- suddenly decided he hadn't been paid three years earlier. I explained I needed cancelled checks and bank bill pay information, and share with them why I needed it. I figured it would be week, ten phone calls and large bank charges for the documents and research. Within two business days, I had all the cancelled checks, by bill pay records and everything I needed -- their only question was --would you like that electronically delivered or a paper version mailed to you? I was so impressed. I had never before felt like my bank was on my side, they were valiant and lightening fast in pulling cancelled checks, bill pay information to prove all the payments were made and on time.

This bank is terrible. If you want to wait days upon days for your checks to clear and get your money bank here. This bank is so far behind other banks it’s stupid. It’s the only bank that doesn’t allow you to sign over checks to another person to be cashed (have had 0 problem with every where else I have been) If you want polite people and a good bank go to Westconsin or RCU. WORST BANK IN WISCONSIN.

This is the bank I go to. Good service, except when they put a hold on your paycheck. If they keep doing that, I might have to find a new bank.
