I recently bought my first home with the help of our Mortgage Loan Officer, Brittany Herricks. She helped us through the whole process and it was a great experience. Would highly recommend working with her.

I received a phone call and voicemail on 10/17/22 from Cora of first Community credit Union sparta asking me to call them. I called her back the following day and she informed me that I needed to update my address and ask to have my funds sent to my updated addresses, or I needed to ether “use” my account or they would have to close it and send the money to, I believe she said, the state. After hearing this I explained to her that I would like to close my account and I would be sending a writer letter explaining this and updating my address, per their requirements.
Today, 12/14/22, I received my check and it was much less than I remember remaining in my account. So, I called and I was told by a woman by the name of Chris and Mike, VP of member services, that it was “inactive” fees. After explaining I was never notified of this, they told me they could not help me and it would have been in the “contract” I signed when I opened it in 2010. Cora, the lady that I spoke with last around 10/18/22 never notified me of this ether. I then explained my wife worked in banking for over 7 years and all facilities she ever worked at would always make a valiant effort to contact an individual before charging such fees. Mike, the VP, told me they called once and sent an email in January, nether I received, this year once before the charges were implemented in, I believe he said, October. One call and an email that I never received is not a valiant effort but Mike said there was nothing he could do. I kept my account open so I could do business with them in the future since I was happy with my first experience, like I explained to Mike, but their business practices have definitely changed for the worst.

Do not bank with this Credit Union!! I recently moved up to the La Crosse area and decided that I wanted to open an account online with 1st CCU. At first, the process seemed fine and gave them the documentation they needed, and they opened the accounts, only to find out they needed more documentation, which I gave to them. That same day they locked me out of my accounts and have not responded to my email, which is very unprofessional. Sue was the one who I was dealing with. I have never had such a bad experience with a financial until this one. I wish I could rate them 0 stars.

They will HARASS you! Even if you don’t have an account with them. We have been harassed due to a family member’s account with this place! They have found and messaged us on FB, dug into our personal records after we moved out of state! Mind you this family member is an adult!
I had found out that this place didn’t file papers properly for my family member during Covid so they are doing what they can to repossess the vehicle. When they reached back out to me personally it was “we don’t do business like that”. They do!! At least the ladies at the Sparta location does.

Brittany Herricks, Mortgage Loan officer, facilitated a transaction between me as the seller to the buyer providing a seamless process. She has an incredible knowledge and experience in her field of financing.
Brittany is extremally professional. I also appreciated that she is prompt in returning phone calls and emails. Communication is vital to these types of transactions. I was also amazed how quickly this process was completed.

We have worked with Lisa Miller in the loan department a few times over the past couple years and have had a great experience with her. Lisa is truly a kind, caring and extremely helpful person. She cares about her clients and wants to help them however she can. We are happy and grateful we have been able to work with her at 1st Community Credit Union. We hope to be able to keep working with her in the years to come.
