This was my first investment property purchase and my experience working with RCN was great. My loan officer Sara Harris was amazing. She communicated with me on a regular basis. She was easy to get in contact with via phone or email whenever I had a question. We were on a tight schedule (3 weeks) to close and the team at RCN made it happen. I've already started another deal with RCN for my next property and as long as I'm able to work with Sara, I feel confident I'll receive the same excellent service I got on my first purchase. We are real estate investors and decided to give RCN a try for a recent purchase since they had reasonable rates. Now we wish we would have read some of the reviews first—as they say, you get what you pay for. These are probably the slowest and most inefficient lenders we’ve ever worked with or heard of. Our closing date was pushed back not one, not two, but three times, and our seller easily could have bailed and we would have lost several thousand in earnest money. In addition, when we finally got the closing paperwork, 2-3 weeks past our initial closing date, our promised interest rate (7.25%) was raised to over 8%. Quite frustrating. When we pointed this out, they had to redo the process all over again, taking another week and a half and least, and even after that, we were not given the lower rate. All this time, our loan officer was promising us things would be done “tonight” or “tomorrow by noon” when in fact, they weren’t completed for weeks. Unfortunately, this company is full of empty promises and our seller was losing patience when it looked like we’d have to push back closing a FOURTH time. We rushed to find another lender at this point, yes at a higher rate, but totally worth it, as we ended up closing 4 days after we found the new lender. Unfortunately we wasted almost 2 months on this company and almost lost both the deal and the earnest money. Even if they are cheap, I’d strongly recommend paying more for a company is who is prompt and keeps their promises.

RCN has been great to work with, we refinance and purchase 80+ sfr houses per year and working with them has been a very easy process. I have worked with over a dozen other lenders and many many of them try and re-trade or re-negotiate right b/f closing but RCN does what they promises. i just wish i could lock in my rate earlier in the closing process.

Absolutely horrible. I quoted 3 loans Oct 27, got the apps signed and started them. Very quick, easy qualified loans that should have closed in 3 weeks. Appraisals all came in on the money. There was a change to their program 11/11 and they would not honor pricing. Made all of the DSCRs not work and lowered loan amounts by 10s of thousands of dollars. Was told by the LO new loan amounts and interest rates. I pulled the borrower off the ceiling and got him to move forward and bring cash to close. Closing stalled for another week with no response from the LO. The program changed AGAIN on 12/1 and the LO did not communicate. I had to call his boss to find out what is going on. My borrower finally signed 12/19 and funds are being held because on 12/19 I was also told I need updated liquidity statements. The LO has never apologized or taken responsibility for dropping the ball on these loans atleast 6 or 7 times and I’ve lost an excellent borrower.
