My mother in law goes here. (She doesn't use Google so im posting for her) She just found out today that a scam or hacker has been taking money out of her and her husband's account for a while and its been every 10 days and is now moving to every week. It has also been coning out in random amounts. Very suspicious. The bank claims it's a loan company (its not). The bank said this "company" is saying my in laws have a car loan out through them and they don't even own a car due to not being able to afford it and my mother in law is disabled. Well my boyfriend took her up to the bank and they didn't take any accountability for not blocking the charges at all. The lady my mother in law spoke to blamed my father in law for giving the authorization for this "loan". He did not. We called this "loan" and they're claiming they never heard of my mother and father in law. The lady my mother in law and boyfriend spoke too just didn't seem to care. Theyre not taking any accountability for being lazy. They couldn't explain why they allowed a fake loan company to take money out. How does a BANK not know that it's fake when it's coming out every 10 days and in random amounts? I used to go through this bank and they used to be excellent. Now theyre HORRIBLE. When i was going through this bank and this location, I had a situation where a suspicious charge came across my account and they immediately blocked it and contacted me and turned my card off until we figured out what was going on. Now they dont care. They have completely differwnt staff now then they did when i was going there. Thats probably part of the issue.
Theyre making excuses and dont seem to want to fix the issue. Beware of this bank. At least this location. I don't want to see anyone else out a bunch of money like my in laws.

Love this bank! Been banking here for years now. We use to bank at a different credit union, however, our old credit union would not give us car loans due to credit to income ratio, but when we tried 1st Midamerica for the first time, they didn't hesitate to give us a car loan. They realized how dependable we are in paying our bills and have never had any problems getting loans through them! And they always help out in every way they can!

I feel as though cashing a check should be simple. Why is there a hold on a check with my name on it. The town is so shady that good working people can’t do simple business. Caitlin. KateLynn kaitlen however it’s spelled you made my trip complicated both times will not be returning or opening an acct with this bank.

I absolutely love this credit union. No matter what we need done, the process is always quick and painless. We've taken out multiple car loans and also refinanced our house and the process couldn't have been simpler. This credit union is the best!

Very disappointed. I brought my paycheck in to be deposited because SIUE doesn't begin directly depositing paychecks into new accounts until the pay period after a direct deposit has been requested. 1st Mid America would not deposit the check without my pay stub (which I couldn't provide them) or without putting a 7-day hold on the check. This wasn't a small amount, so a 7-day hold was completely unacceptable to me. I'm 39 years old, and I've never had a bank tell me they wouldn't deposit my check without first putting a hold on it for a week. The university will use direct deposit from now on, so I realize this is only a one-time issue. But, that's not what irks me about this. What bothers me is the principle that this policy of not depositing checks for new accounts was never explained to me. My concern is what other quirky policies they may have that they haven't bothered to explain to me. At this point, I'm planning to wait out the 90-day period and close the accounts. I just don't feel comfortable doing my banking with a credit union that isn't forthright with me.

the branch in edwardsville sucks. i started using this bank in jerseyville and loved it, then i moved to edwardsville and i hate the branch here. they have made me wait for 10-20 minutes on more then one occasion and has made me late to work multiple times. they make cashing a check so difficult, they are rude, and not very considerate of your time.
