I've always had a very personal, hometown banking experience with MCCU. I recently was victim of credit card fraud and was graciously helped through the process by the lovely folks at the Aitkin branch.

For all online and phone payments they have a $12 "convenience fee". It's 2018, online banking is no longer a convenience in the banking word, it's apart of the industry. This is the only bank the I have crossed that has this fee. At $12 a month that's $144 a year. On just a 36 month car loan it will add $432 to use their "convenient" online banking payment system. This should be taken into consideration along with the interest rate, even though they might have the lowest rate this fee really adds up.
Further update, you cannot see your total balance on your loan if you do not set up an online bank account through them directly. You have to call them to get your balance and ask them over the phone for details on payments for your principal and interest. I will not be using them ever again after this loan is payed off.

Watch for unusual fees. When reviewing saving account balance, a $5 "wrong address fee" was deducted from the account. In 40 years of accounts with credit unions, I have never encountered a "wrong address fee". Also noted was a $5 low balance fee (account less than $50) in the same month the account was allowed to be opened with $20.

This is the worst customer service I've ever encountered from an organization in my life. I've been trying to contact them for 4 days and all I ever get is the same recording no matter which branch I try to contact. The only people that answer the phone are the tech support people and they can only help with password resets. Even they can't contact the MCCU people. They only thing they offered was to send an email and that hasn't produced any results. If you are any distance from a branch you are out of luck trying to get a hold of them. --Update --They got back to me the next day and asked for more specific info which I sent the same day. That was 2 weeks ago. Apparently they still don't care.

Terrible service. I deposited a check that they decided to hold for a week and charge me overdraft fees while they had my money on hold.

Was very helpful! Covered concerns of a lost wallet! Hope they get even better for the customers that are unhappy.
Thank you.
