This place used to b my go to place to cash checks, money orders, fax, and even buy single stamps. Every time in the past I have had a good experiences and the staff was always professional and polite.
I went to cash a money order this past Saturday and delt with the most impatient, unprofessional, and rude employee ever. I believe her name is Joanna. She doesn't like for you to ask questions for clarification while she throws her "Friendly checking" terms at you. I tried to get a understanding on why she couldn't cash my money order and she went on a rant talking about, "I don't care if y'all get mad.......etc." Referring to her not wanting to cash it. First of all who is y'all? Because I was by myself. "Y'all" has to refer to people she has turned down in the past and whoever wants to challenge her check cashing authority.
I was so polite and patient with her despite her choice of words and how she talked to me. She was very confrontational! I asked her if she was the manager and she told me no but you can call her and she will tell you the same thing.
Her confidence in her manager backing her up really left a bad taste in my mouth.
I ended up leaving and returning later that night with the money order and a TCF Bank number for her to verify my money order. Yes it's a shame I had to do her job. But I walked up to the window and she greets me with, "I'm only cashing checks because I shut down already. I hand my Id over and money order. She instantly gets on the phone and calls her boss. "Yea remember the guy that came in here earlier I told you about complaining? Well he's back with a 866 number to call to verify it but I shut everything down already". She look up at me with a nasty look and says my manager says no.
I asked why am I being denied service and with an attitude start throwing friendly check terms at me that I don't understand. Me asking her what that meant made things worst. I was so frustrated I just left. Regardless of her attempt to cash it earlier and not being able to verify my money order I felt it was something that could've possibly been overturned by the manager in the system to try again. The girl made no real attempt to verify it the first time. She called and yelled several times at the automated system to verify but it did not register her voice. I tried to educate the girl on giving it a chance because usually it will give you the option to push a button or connect you to a representative. But noshe said she don't care if y'all mad and she the one that's going to have to b stuck paying the bill insinuating I had a fraudulent money order. I didn't bother calling her manager Malisha because I felt she had already POSSIBLY made a biased dicision about me which is why she denied me service. Never again will I go back here. She said go to zip express or come back Monday and I will cash it. Best advice ever! I went to zip express on Onslow drive and had excellent customer service!! I wonder if it protocol to call your manager if a customer asked for the number. Because I find it very strange for her to call her manager and talk about me. Why do you have to get to her first? Gotta explain yourself? Guilty of something??? I'm done and I'm done with friendly check thanks for inconveniencing me and my family!

When no one else would cash a state pension check on a Saturday they did. As a new resident in the area I will only come here. And the young lady at the window was wonderful.
