Emerald Group Credit Union kicks people when they are down. I wish I could give zero stars... I was a member for 15 years. I got divorced and needed to open up an account in my name and close the joint account. I saw that a couple of transactions posted - each one incurring a $35 overdraft fee. I called the bank and talked to them about bringing the balance to 0 and closing the account. I was told my ex had to come to the bank with me or get a form notarized. Turns out that was WRONG. As the primary member I could have closed the checking that day. My ex kept using the card and racked up $300 more dollars in overdraft fees. I called again - NEVER did anyone just recommend that I TURN OFF OVERDRAFT PROTECTION! Why not? I can't think of everything - I am finishing going through a bitter divorce. But they should have thought of that. They don't care enough to try and solve problems. EGCU - we kick people when they are down. That should be their new slogon.

All I did was transfer some money to my nephews account, and asked when my debit card is coming in the mail. Both things were taken care of.

I love this Credit Union. Never had any problems. I refer them to any and everyone I know. They help us out as customers in such a great and helpful way. Staff always pleasant and helpful. Hope i get this hardship loan. They really offer alot when you bank with them. They have been great this whole 3-4 years I've banked with them. And hope they stay around a while.

It is so easy to be swayed by all the offers of banking choices/card perks that come our way. When Emerald closed their Independence office, I thought "That's it....I'm switching." I loved the staff at this location and the convenience. While Garfield is an inconvenience (I live in Akron) I wouldn't switch! The staff here is friendly and most accommodating. When it was time for my son's first car loan at 18, he did not have credit which they completely understood. The gal who worked with us CELEBRATED the fact the this was his first credit transaction! We secured the loan but he made the payments despite living out of state. 3 years later he has paid the used car off, sold it and just a few weeks ago did all the work with Emily at Emerald to secure a "big boy" loan (Mom's words, definitely not his!) and we all were thrilled that he got the lowest rate around for his next-to-new truck! Emerald is family friendly and such a part of the community...which in this case, extends all the way to Akron! Thanks to all who make this an exceptional place to bank.

I have had the WORST experience there over the last few years. It used to be so well run and Customer Service was a thing. Not anymore! They no longer manage their own credit cards so can be of no asdistance! Run fast, run far.... take your money somewhere else!

Jill Kiggins handled my auto loan and I have to tell you she is the best loan officer I’ve ever dealt with! She is very knowledgeable, very friendly and goes out of her way to make sure everything is done in a timely manner.

I have been a member of ECU for several years. My experiences with the employees have been great at both the Bedford location and Garfield Hts.. My recent experience with Jill Kiggins was exceptional! I came in to apply for a loan. She went steps further and looked at my credit to see areas that could help me in the long run. I was approved for the loan, but we also have a plan to revisit my financial portfolio to restructure some things that will put me in a better position for the future.
