First Federal Savings and Loan of Lorain, Lorain, OH

February 4, 2021 - At the recommendation of my builder, I went to First Federal Savings of Lorain for a construction loan. The process was a bit disjointed but, I attributed that to doing business during the COVID pandemic. I will explain the reason for the low rating and the reason I do not recommend this institution. What they verbally told me (promised) was very different from the words in the contract. The effect of this difference cost me highly. The loan officer acknowledged the reason for the "error" was a recent change in policy that had not been effectively communicated. She promised the harm it did would be rectified. However, this did not happen and multiple attempts to then communicate with the institution's President went unanswered. Promises made were not fulfilled. My recommendation, place your trust in a financial institution that is better organized, places value on honesty and customer service. I do not recommend First Federal Savings of Lorain.

I used their ATM to withdraw money. I forgot to get my card out of the machine. I called them the next day when they were open. They weren't very nice and told me that I would have to wait until they could check the machine and would call me back. 4 hours later they called to tell me that they found the card but wouldn't return it because I bank with someone else and wasn't a member. Even after I offered to come show ID and have my bank contact them they wouldn't give it back, telling me that It could be stolen... SMH. They shredded my property! Awful service. Now I have to wait 3 weeks for my bank to issue me a new debit card. Should be illegal to keep MY property and destroy it. Stay away from these criminals

I had a long relationship, with this banking instituition, I dealt with them for atleast, 32 years that is until about 3 months ago. I received a lump sum check. From property that belonged to my mother. Went to the bank and purchased two money orders, Left home thinking I had them. A relative came in and stole them; and paid a woman to cash them in. When I notified the bank they said i had to file a police report; then once, the police department issues warrants they could reimburse me. The police did all they could. The person dissapeared otherwise she would be in jail. However, crooked first federal never paid me a dime and basically blaming me ; because, I had not filled the money orders out yet, It was $1200 I was using it for a down payment on a car I decided not to buy. Every one, I have ever known who has been a customer and lost money through crooked means never gets reimbursed by this dirty bank. Yet, all their money is insured. They are going to crumble and fall for tbeir dirty practices.

This branch is VERY slow, and on the busiest days of the month they only have a few tellers. They are very slow. I will go across town to 42nd st branch from now on

From JoEllen, Nancy and the rest of the staff, this team is awesome! The president of this branch has done a Fantastic Job with his people and it shows. Don't apply anywhere else for a home loan but here! Thanks again for all that you have done for my family.
