Mr. Fahrenbach made assumptions on my possible refinance that led to unrealistic expectations. These assumptions led to the inability to refinance and the expenditure of a $400 appraisal fee with nothing to show for it. He downplayed the importance of remodeling aspects of my house (that we were looking to do before our appraisal) that could have raised my appraisal and focused on the risk and reward for his personal gain over that of mine. The appraiser stated that any improvements could possibly raise our appraisal. This clearly contradicted what Mr. Fahrenbach told me. His calculations/estimates were nowhere close to the final appraisal and my family lost out because of it. I highly suggest that you work with someone who is more knowledgable and forthright. I will not work with him again and, in the future, will look to transfer to a different lender when I am able to refinance.
