State Employees’ Credit Union, Mount Airy, NC

After hearing Karen discuss the user name and password at the teller window inside loud enough for EVERYONE to hear, I felt a 1 Star was earned. Almost yelling out a members user name and password is unacceptable. No fellow employee calling her out and stopping this huge issue is almost as bad. Then two weeks later stopped by only to hear a teller, AT A BANK, advise a customer they didn’t have any 100 dollar bills....AT A BANK! I have been a member since 1984 and have used branches all over the state. Sad to say such a wonderful town has such a poor run SECU Branch.

I just left the far right counter at 5:00pm 9-3-21, the gentleman helping me was so kind. He was very knowledgeable and did not rush me in any way. I felt like I was a valuable consumer as he allowed me to handle my budget needs as I asked him questions from time to time. Tanner is a busy man and since my momma is sick, I don’t have the time to make appointments with him any longer, but this gentleman was so gracious to help me out with all my banking needs this afternoon. Thank You so Much for All Your Help! It meant A lot to me…

I just left the Credit Union in Mt. Airy, North Carolina. They have made a huge mistake by putting my funds into someone else's account. We have resolved the issue, and they have admitted that it was their mistake. But because of my funds being put into the wrong account, interest has been charged to me and they will not remove it. I definitely will be moving all my banking to another bank because they are punishing me for their mistake. Plus, now I can never trust them again with my money. When you put your hard earned money into a bank, you want to trust them and be treated nicely. The loan officer that was assisting me with this issue was very short with me and even said that if they need they harass their customers. Is this the customer service people want? I can't believe she said that. This shows me what they think of their customers. So, if you bank with the Credit Union please look at your accounts carefully. They will cheat you!

This 5-star rating is specifically for Matthew McBride. I’ve dealt with this young man at multiple branches over the years and he displays top-notch customer service and professionalism every single time I see him or speak with him.

Update: I finally got all of my money back, but it took several days and they still sent me a letter warning me that they had the right to reverse those deposits should they see fit. I can't stress enough to NEVER DEPOSIT CASH AT THE MOUNT AIRY, FRANKLIN STREET LOCATION. After this incident, I looked online and it apparently can happen at any ATM more often than you would think and sometimes people didn't ever get that money back. I won't deposit cash at any ATM ever again. It's just too risky. The people are nice, but never NEVER use the ATM at the Mount Airy location for a cash deposit. It ate $600 that I deposited and I still haven't gotten all my money back yet. This machine acted a little wonky another time when I used it, but everything went okay, so I didn't think anything else about it until this happened, so think it's an old machine that needs upgrading. I will never use this machine again.
