Do banks offer cash advances?
Yes, but usually only to their own customers. A handful of large banks now offer small-dollar loans or lines of credit through online banking, designed for a short gap before payday or a surprise bill. They're different from a credit card cash advance, which any cardholder can take at an ATM.
The catch is eligibility. Each program below requires an established checking account at that bank, with a history of regular deposits. If you bank somewhere else, or your account is new, you generally can't use them.
Here's what each bank's official site says, checked October 26, 2026. Zebra Finance isn't affiliated with any of these banks.
Bank of America Balance Assist
- Amount: borrow up to $500.
- Cost: a $15 fee to open a Balance Assist loan, with no other interest or finance charges, according to the bank.
- Repayment: monthly payments over four months.
- Who: described as a short-term loan for Bank of America checking customers; the bank notes SafeBalance Banking for Family Banking accounts aren't eligible.
Example: on a $500 loan, the $15 fee means you repay $515 over four monthly payments.
U.S. Bank Simple Loan
- Amount: $100 to $1,000, in $100 increments.
- Cost: $6 for every $100 borrowed. U.S. Bank's own example: borrow $400, pay a $24 fee, and repay $424 in three monthly payments of about $141.33.
- Repayment: three monthly payments, the first due no sooner than 30 days after approval. No late, missed-payment or NSF fees, and no prepayment penalty (paying early doesn't reduce the fee).
- Who: 18 or older with a U.S. Bank personal checking account open at least six months and three months of recurring direct deposits.
- Speed: approval typically in under a minute, with funds available within minutes.
- Limit: you can apply for another Simple Loan 30 days after paying off the last one.
Huntington Standby Cash
- Amount: a digital line of credit of $100 to $750 for eligible Huntington checking customers.
- Cost: a 5% cash advance fee on each transfer ($25 on $500). Pay it back over three months with automatic payments and there's no monthly interest charge; without autopay, a 1% monthly interest charge applies to the balance.
- Who: at least $1,000 deposited each month for three consecutive months, an average daily balance of $200 or more over the past 30 days, no account overdrawn more than 24 hours, online banking enrollment, and an address in Huntington's service area. Huntington says eligibility is based on checking and deposit history, not your credit score.
- Speed: once eligible, funds transfer instantly to your checking account.

If you don't qualify for a bank cash advance
Most people searching for a bank cash advance find they don't meet the account-age or deposit rules, bank somewhere that doesn't offer one, or need more than the bank's limit. That's where an online loan request helps.
Zebra Finance is a free matching service, not a lender. You don't need an existing relationship with any bank in our network. One short form shares your request with lenders that serve your state, and many decide within minutes. Approved funds are often deposited as soon as the next business day.
- Amounts: about $100 to $5,000, depending on state, income and lender.
- Credit: all credit types can apply. Many lenders focus on income and bank activity and may use alternative credit data instead of a traditional hard pull.
- Cost: for a payday-style advance, fees are usually set per $100 and capped by state law. For example, at $15 per $100, a $300 two-week advance costs $45, so you repay $345.
